It’s a recession, so we should all tighten our belts, look incredibly glum and just batten down the hatches and exist until it is over – not so!

Nail salons across the country have reported a marked increase in business last month alone. Known throughout the beauty trade as the grind down month, the post Christmas slump month, January has been given a breath of fresh air and seen women ditch the gloom and negativity for a pick-me-up in the salon. A small luxury, nail varnish has never been so popular. Relatively cheap and instantly gratifying, bottles of liquid rainbows have been flying off the shelves like never before.

Last year, Superdrug reported a 37% increase in sales; salons throughout the UK have reported a general 16% increase last month. Last year Nails Inc. reported profits in the region of £13 million; this year they expect to rake in £22 million.

It’s the feel-good factor: a little affordable treat makes you feel good and it is good to feel good! And it all starts here: nail courses – manicure, pedicure, UV gel, acrylics, sculpting, you name it – women have now witnessed more customers in the salons they frequent and want to get in on the act. Following a nail course and training to become a nail technician is seen as the route to survival and prosperity in these hard times. Don’t delay!

Quick and easy to follow, professional nail courses are the stepping stone to a bright and colourful future.
